How to know when you need a wheel alignment
Whether you’re driving a Ford, Subaru or any make of car, you may notice after some time that your steering wheel pulls to one side when driving. Though some drift in your vehicle is normal due to road conditions, feeling your vehicle pull too much needs to be assessed because poor alignment affects your tires’ longevity, steering and suspension parts. That means, it could affect your wallet in a big way.
So, how do you know when you need to check your wheel alignment? Here are some things to check out on your own or come by Lakeview Automotive
where we will gladly help you out.
Vehicle pulling to the left or right
Feeling your car pull in either direction could be a symptom of several things such as uneven air pressure, a tire manufacture issue, worn our parts in the steering or suspension, brakes wearing unevenly or a misalignment. When your car starts to drift, come by Lakeview Automotive so we can figure it out for you.
Uneven or rapid tire wear
Wear and tear on your tires is affected by many things and we see this often here at Lakeview Automotive. If we see uneven or rapid tire wear, we will look at several factors such as tire inflation, suspension, exposure to the elements, and of course, your car’s alignment. If the wear is excessive on the inner or outer edge of your tires, alignment is most likely to blame.
Crooked steering wheel while driving straight
Though differing tire pressure can be a culprit with this as well, most often when our clients come to see us here at Lakeview Automotive with a crooked steering wheel, we look at their alignment to try and assess and fix the problem. We’ll take a look at your steering and suspension to alter your alignment and get you straightened out.
Squealing tires
So much depends on your tires and the air pressure within. Worn treads can make your tires squeal, as can worn out parts such as your alignment. If your vehicle’s suspension is off, the toe or camber angles might need to be tweaked.
